Tesla Discontinues Autopilot in New Model 3 and Model Y Vehicles
Tesla has removed its Autopilot driving assistance system from all new Model Y and Model 3 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The decision aims to accelerate adoption of its more advanced Full-Self Driving (Supervised) technology. This follows a 30-day suspension of manufacturing and dealer licenses in California last month, where regulators accused Tesla of deceptive marketing regarding Autopilot's capabilities.
New vehicles now come standard with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control instead of the previous Autopilot suite, which included Autosteer. Tesla's online configurator has been updated to reflect these changes, offering buyers the option to subscribe to FSD at $99 per month. The MOVE underscores Tesla's pivot toward its next-generation autonomous driving system amid regulatory scrutiny.
